Bridal Tips & Advice
FAQ
Hair accessories ?
There are so many stunning hair accessories around, current trends are vintage one off pieces and fresh flowers which are making a come back.
Your accessories will really depend on how you're having your hair and what kind of look your going for e.g romantic, vintage ,modern or some kind of theme. Decide if your having a veil. There are so many different styles, although not every bride has a veil (its a personal choice) try and choose your accessories to match your wedding dress. It's also good to have your hair accessories for your trial, but dont worry if you don't, wait and your bridal hair stylist will be able to advise you on what and where to buy them .
On the day ?
Your bridal hair stylist will have allocated a time scale for all of the wedding party's hair to be completed e.g bride, bridesmaids, flower girls and mother of the bride. They are also used to working with or around a make up artist and will work together to make sure everything runs on time.
Most wedding mornings are very relaxed as all of the planning has been done. The wedding morning is a time for the bride to relax, reflect and look back on all of her hard work and watch it all fall into place with a glass of champagne.
Most importantly ENJOY your one off special day and feel condfident and relaxed with all the help you can get from the professionals.
How long before the wedding should i book ?
Do your research when booking a reputable hair stylist e.g recommendations, experience, reviews and photos of their actual work. A bridal hair stylist with a good reputation and a high standard of work will get booked up early so i would advise you to book six months to a year in advance.
How does a salon hairdresser work versus freelance ?
Pricing ?
Most reputable bridal hair stylists will take a booking deposit to secure your wedding date. Look to be paying £30/£50 for that. Again do your research...the cheapest or the most expensive may not always mean they are the best. Most bridal hair stylists work on individual pricing as every wedding party is different. Email them with your requirements e.g how many, date and location and they will be able to send you a personalised quote. Expect to pay anything from £100 up to £400 depending on how large your wedding party is.
If you have a regular hair stylist in a salon that is confident at doing bridal hair but you really don't want to go into the salon, discuss with them about coming to your home/wedding location on your wedding day. Not every hairdresser is confident at putting long hair up. Most bridal hair stylists are freelance and will willingly travel to your home or wedding location on the day. This makes the wedding morning experience a lot more relaxed and enjoyable.
Trial run ?
The best time to book your trial run is around 8 weeks before your wedding day, although some brides prefer to have it earlier to put there minds at rest.Everyone is different but i always suggest a trial run on the same day of their dress fitting, that way they will see the total look and if any changes are to be made there's time to do it. Get some style ideas from wedding hair pictures and take them along. It doesn't matter if you have no idea of what you want ,that's what trials are for. It's good to try a few styles as sometimes what you have in your head doesn't always look how you expected .Be open minded and stay true to yourself and your style.
